What Is CranioSacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a powerful tool that uses light/sustained touch to treat many painful dysfunctions of all ages.
as you have a heart beat, you also have another natural body rhythm -
the Craniosacral Rhythm. Your brain and spinal cord are bathed in
cerebrospinal fluid and as it is produced and resorbed into the body,
it creates a wave like rhythm that can be felt anywhere along the body.
With trained hands, a practitioner can use this rhythm as a tool to feel
where there are restrictions or tensions. The practitioner uses their
hands to guide the tissues (with light pressure) into positions that
facilitate the body to reflexively "let go" and to gain greater release
of tension. These techniques can be applied anywhere along the body, not
just to relieve muscle tension, but also to address restrictions in
many structures restricting proper function and movement. Truly, a more
global, holistic style of treatment with a potential for broader
effects in the body than massage alone.
touch used with CST is very gentle and still, making it a very useful
tool to have when other techniques may cause more pain or harm to the
because it is gentle, it works with the body in a way that the muscles
and nerves do not react or fight against what needs to be released or
accomplished to achieve the client's treatment goals. As a result, the
client's stress response or "fight or flight" dissolves and a deep sense
of relaxation is experienced in the treatment and afterwards as well.
